Ahh so you are thinking about , sure I know you would love another project for the winter and you'll have more than 3 weeks to build it, think of the fun you could have in it

There's an autotest car on Carzone Ireland !

http://www.carzone.ie/search/MG/Midget/1.2%5BMODI/200935195032505/advert?channel=CARS

RWD is harder to drive : you have to MAKE the car do the manouevers.
But much more fun and rewarding when you get in the swing of it.

Spec is A-Series engine, (maybe moved back in the frame. But dont tell Eamonn. He hates this because you cant get at the distributor.), Toyota or Sierra gearbox ( mine has a Datsun), Ford 105E back axle with limo and anti tramp bars. Something for the front suspension like hydraulic shocks ( lever arch are standard: and mine is Spitfire grafted on)

And then there is cutting out wings/inner wings/ and rearwings : all to taste and replace with fibregalss.

If you want the template come to Bray and take your own photos

Post Wanted. An MG Midget Reply with quote
J

It's not just height but width as well. getting clearance around the steering wheel. The footspace is fine

If you look at the club history photo's Douglas Richardson is at least as tall as you, and Peter 'Julia' Faulkner is and was about the same and not of hungry appearance.

The problem is there is a step in the floor where the roll over the rear wheels starts and the seat cannot travel back too far.

I'm 5;10" and ' comfortable of figure. You shouldnt really have a problem.

There's a way of steering that hepls as well.
Reverse your right hand onto the bottom of the steering , elbow in the air and you'll be OK

Regards

Tim

Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to come around to the idea of a midget even though ideally I'd still like a mini but I'll keep my eyes open for both Very Happy

I thought I'd give this thread a bump. I was supposed to be collecting a Mini at the weekend but the sale has fallen though (not impressed!)

If anyone knows of any other Minis around please let me know.

Trish, I don't suppose you'd consider selling the midget?

@ Damien: Yep I'm on there and also NI Minis, I'm trying to do this on a very tight budget so importing from England isn't really an option.

@guyfo: Thanks I spotted them this afternoon (when I started looking again! Rolling Eyes) but I don't have the space for 2 and it looks like the seller would rather sell them together.

Hey there. Is it the brown mini that you are thinking of doing? To me it looks, from these pictures anyway, as if it will cost a huge amount more to do than to buy a car already prepared. The bodywork will need a good bit of attention, you will need to change engine, gearbox, gear selector, brakes, add a servo, add hi-lo suspension etc, etc.

There are always some prepared cars for sale. Much much cheaper to buy one already prepared from someone who is eager to sell it
