Replying to Earney's query on January 11 re MSA licence grade needed - Chart 26 on page 140 of MSA Yearbook shows a Clubman licence as being needed for Autotests, so Non-Race Clubman looks the best bet to me from the choice on the application form.

The reason you haven't needed them for lanes events in NI is that these must have been run as Closed events (only members of organising club) - under MSA regulations Closed events don't require licences. Under MI regulations, all events need licences.

any team aspect to this event like there was on jjs?

If there is an interest for teams, I see no problem in having them. Like JJ's, there'd have to a mimimum interest of say 5 teams, to make to results worth the calulation effort.

Yeah they are all closed events and all need the driver and navigator to be a member.

I have a non race clubman licence anyway so im all sorted there.

Looking forward to this now

We are delighted to welcome newcomers from different motorsport disciplines to Multivenue Autotesting. Here are some pointers which we hope will make your first outing an enjoyable one.

The format for this event will be as follows:
18 Tests (6 tests which are repeated 3 times)
The tests will remain the same and do not change during the day. Drivers will be given time card no 1 and test diagrams at sign on. Tests will be clearly marked 1-6 and you will be instructed at drivers briefing as to which test you are due to start. Please hand in your time card as soon as possible for every completed lap. Failure to do this will result in prolonged results calculations.

Test Diagrams. Starting and finishing procedure. Stop Boxes.

There will be some reversing in the tests, reversing is denoted by a broken line in the test diagrams ie. - - - and you must place your rear wheels only over the line. Each test is started with the front wheels stationary on the start line. You must finish each test by stopping astride the finish line, with only your front wheels across the line.

Stop Boxes. You must come to a complete halt with all 4 wheels in the stop box before proceeding.

We hope this information is helpful and please let us know if you have any questions.
PS: There are loads of experienced drivers competing on Sunday who will be more than happy to help you with the test diagrams.

50 or so entered in class 2, competition, I think so.

Final instructions will be issued Friday. Canteen in Monello will be open for lunch, just to let people know.

TDC Mondello MVAT Final Instructions

Many thanks for your entry to TDC’s Mondello Multivenue Autotest. Here are some light readings for the event:

Please arrive as early as possible for sign-on. Your compliance would be greatly appreciated. No sign-on after drivers briefing at 0915. Sign-on opens at 0800.

The format for the event is as follows:
· 6 Tests completed 3 times.
· 1 Minute interval starts.
· Please go straight to your relevant starting test after drivers briefing.
· You must travel through Test 5 to get to test 6. Ask marshal.
· Countdown Start. Marshals will count you down to start. No hanging around in the queues.
· Please queue in running order to start with. Once underway, it’s up to you to keep moving.
· Please allow double drivers to skip the queue, within reason. If at all possible, try to facilitate them. DD’s will be marked with a red dot on their windscreen.
· No dodging or driving around chicanes. Penalty will be a disqualification.
· No taking short cuts across the grass. Penalty will be a fail.
· There will be pylons “guarding” chicanes and other areas, so if these are knocked, will incur a 5 second penalty.
· Approach chicanes at a low speed.
· All finish lines are stop astride. Front 2 wheels Stop and then pull up to marshal.
· The non-competitive sections are to be driven at low speed, so no messing.
· Please put your car numbers on your cars’ rear quarter light window or equivalent.
· Please ensure that you are familiar with your test before you start. Arrows have been put in place, but remember to circle a pylon and not drive past it, if this is the case. For all beginners, this is very important, make sure you’re comfortable with where you have to go before you start, don’t just assume it’ll be arrowed or you’ll figure it out when you get there.
· Lap belts to be worn at all times, marshals will be checking. Failure will incur a fail penalty for that test. Also, please keep your windows rolled up.
· The grass in Mondello has been made out of Lava for this event, so if a wheel touches the grass, it could result in catastrophic failure. No driving on the grass, 5 second penalty for each occurrence. Pylons have been placed to prevent this, 3 or 4 in some places, so knocking them all could result in a 15 or 20 penalty, you’ve been warned.
· All tests are visible at all times by the marshals; they can see you, even if you can’t see them. Obey any instructions or flags given by the marshals, they are there for your safety and also to catch you out if you hit pylons.
· No walking the tests during the day, except for test 3. This test is located in the paddock and can be walked up until drivers briefing at 0915. The earlier you arrive, the more time you’ll have to do this.
· Parking will be in the paddock beside the control tower, on the main straight and to the right of gate 4 as you enter Mondello. Marshals will help with parking; early arrival will ensure a decent spot.
· Please hand in your completed time-cards as soon as possible. Results for this event can be timely if competitors fail to do this.
· There will be a 45 min lunch halt at 1300. .
See you all Sunday!

Mark (CoC)
