Entry sent Tim,looking foward to this event. I have never done it before. Is it bumpy ie what set up would best suit the car? lowish and stiff or higish and soft? tyres?.thanks Alan.

Alan

Entry received : thanks
See updated list ; now up to 41 entries

Declan advises he has got a couple of new venues ; so a bit smoother than previous years.

For the quarries and lanes : go higher and softer because even much of the smooth (farmyards) will be more slippery.

Tyres : Of choice is Yoko A021R's , or similar. preferrably fresh, with a good amount of thread left !
Chunky gravel digger knobblies, mud & snow, or marked 'for rally use' or ' for competition use' are banned. If in doubt check with COC ( Declan)

Talk to you

Tim

41 AND COUNTING

The strength of the entry througout the filed is increasing.

Liam Cashman has his JJ's MVAT gearbox woes resolved and will head up the long road from Cork on Sunday morning to increase the pressure at the very front.

Richard Meeke and dad David, Starlet mounted on this occasion, are also sure to make the fight at the top tighter.

Add Alan Auerbach in a Starlet that has a tweek or two, and has in the past shown well in single venue events could be there at the end. I must confess to surprise to Alan's admission he's never done a multi-venue : otherwise he must have done nearly everything else !

List as of 22.08.2012 ( Enquiries still welcome, but hurry, I have more in the pipeline just waiting to resolve (mostly car prep) issues)

Tim, I'm sure Alan said he never did THIS multi venue, and has never watched it , so has no clue as what to expect.

Sorry Peter, I may have mis-understood.

Has he ever done one of the open-road ones, like this, where you drive from test to test?

I know he has done all the other sorts of autotests including Murphy's Quarry and probably Punchestown. The true multi-location events are that bit different because of the variety of sites used. You get to autotest in a number of different environments all in the one event ; and this is a large part of the attraction.A little bit of restraint, at times, will be called for !

And then there are the sociable aspects. And the fundraising for good causes !

And it reminds the 'oldies' of back in the day when the tests themselves were at country crossroads on open roads. It still affects me : every time I approach Sallygap Cross from the Glencree side I get serious "handbrake twitch" !

Seriously looking forward to it

Alan's first and only real Multi venue was the ALMC in Puddenhill this year. This is his second year competing in the beginners championship, and he has done a few single venue multivenues like Punchestown , Mondello and one in Birr. Up to that the only autotesting he did was the annual Stephen's Day event which we both did since about 2006.
His other motor sport experience was karting back in '97 and '98, and he raced a Stryker in 2006.

I will do my best anyway. I only have 99 hp to play with so I would imagine some of the bigger engine more powerful cars will have an advantage especially on bigger stages Having fun is the main aim of the game.I am really looking forward to this event.

NOT THE FINAL INSTRUCTIONS ! ! THESE ARE LAST YEARS !

But you get the idea. An updated 2012 version will probably be posted tomorrow.

Entries are 41, as the most recent list.
Seeded version tomorrow. Faulkt1a opinions based on last 3 TDC multi-venues, (plus experience) will be used. Idiosyncracies are all TF's, as if ye didn't know that already ! e.g Alan Auerbach seems to have been around longer than that !
Lots of competitive juices flowing already so I expect it to be intense and close all the way through.

"2011 Final Instructions

Start Location : Cow Lane Cottage, Burgage, Blessington, Co Wicklow.
GPS ref: N 53.16480 W 006.53770

Times
Sign on 8:00 am
Drivers Briefing @ 9.15 am
First Car starts 9:30 am

Passengers / Navigators
All passengers & navigators must sign on and pay €5 personal accident insurance premium.

Seat Belts
Seat belts are mandatory for both driver and passenger on all tests and road sections.

Tyres
Only road tyres are allowed on the driven wheels, no M&S or Knobbly tyres are allowed.

Double Drivers
On tests where the start and finish are located in the same location, the 1st driver does the test and then returns to the start of the test to swap drivers. We have put another car between the double drivers so by the time this car has finished the test the 2nd driver can slot back in.

On tests where the start and finish are in different locations, the first driver starts as normal without the 2nd driver. The start marshal will instruct you as to the correct route to return to the start where they can slot back in for the 2nd driver. The first driver needs to be a passenger for the 2nd driver on these tests.

Starting Tests.
We have a large entry and a busy schedule i.e. 19 tests in total so it important that all drivers arrive at the start of the tests ready to go.

Fuel
There are ample Petrol Stations along the route. we received support from Texaco in Blessington so please return the favour and support them as you will be passing by during the day

Lunch
Lunch (after test 9 ) will be at the start in Burgage ( rolls and coffee will be provided ) bring the rest yourself . As we have so many tests to get through there is only 30mins for lunch.

General Safety
Please help us to ensure that this event is a great success by following the instructions of the officials and marshals at all times. Please drive with due care and consideration for other road users on the road sections. Anyone observed driving in an inappropriate manner will be excluded.

Thank you for supporting TDC & the chosen charities, Barretstown gang camp plus one yet to be decided (last year we gave €4,500) and we wish you a very enjoyable and safe day.

Best of luck and enjoy yourselves!

Declan Hendrick COC"

Really looking forward to Sunday. As usual the minimum of car preparation has applied.

My usual double driver is not available so taking the oppertunity to introduce another family menber to their first motorsport event - you may be a little surprised who it is! Shocked
