Piers won't have it all his own way in the rear wheel drive class as he will be joined by Stephen Briggs in another MX-5. Stephen has made a seamless transition to RWD and always looks to be thoroughly enjoying the "steering from the rear action ". Local man David Fitzgerald will be sure to keep them honest in his well prepared MGBGT.

There will be more girl power than usual at this event! Karen Gaffney will skilfully pilot a Starlet around the yards and quarries and has assured me she is going to give husband Ted (in a Mini) a serious run for his money. The ever improving Joanne Lombard debuted her new Starlet in the TDC Autotest a week ago and has declared it good to go for this event.

Philip O'Reilly is heading up a very competitive team with Richard and David Meeke. This trio, all in Starlets will be hard to beat but rest assured "Team Kingers" will give it their all for top team honours.

Reminder....
The closing date for entries is tomorrow and also please note the following re IRDS.

One driver in each car must hold and produce a current letter of acceptance from the IRDS scheme (MI licence holders) or BRDS scheme (MSA licence holders). Where a car is being double driven, ONLY ONE of its drivers is required to hold IRDS/BRDS cover but that driver MUST DRIVE ALL OF THE OPEN ROAD SECTIONS.

The landowner for test 2 is Bryko Coals and they have kindly donated the useful prize of a tonne of coal to the quickest driver on their test. This could come in very handy if we have another cold long winter. Delivery is not included.

@ Jack Quinn & Mick Kehoe - There is a Peugeot 309 being scrapped at one of the tests sites so bring a screwdriver as you might pick up some useful spares on the day!

Entry list updated as of 6pm this evening. There are a couple of people dropping in entries later on tonight so I will post a final update tomorrow.

PS : Don't forget if you would like to run with your friends or with similar cars please let me know and we will do our best to accommodate you. Thanks to all of you who have sent them and I have noted them and will pass them on to Declan as he is doing the running order on Monday.

Just a quick reminder to anybody who might yet like to become a TDC member this year, if you would like to fill out a membership form and put it with the appropriate fee in an envelope I'll take them at the start and finish in Burgage on Sunday.

Remember; The €20 annual membership fee entitles you to the half price Competition License each year, in the case of Autotests that means a €99 license, well worth it if you're doing a few events in the year or if you intend to compete in MVATs, where one day licenses are not available.

Just ask around for Philip O'Reilly on Sunday if you don't know me already!

She kids you NOT !

Firstly : Congratulations on an amazing organisational effort by Trish : oversubscribed entry list with half paid by Paypal.

Secondly : including a couple whose names aren't on the entry list above !

Thirdly : And I see elsewhere there may be more trying to add to the list !

Again : an unreserved well done to Trish ! Simply excellent ! !

HQ : Cow Lane Cottage, Burgage, Blessington, Co Wicklow.
Sign on 8:00 to 9.00 am
Drivers briefing 9.00 am
First Car away 9:30 am

Lunch
There will be a 15 minute break in the Burgage with the first car due at 1.00-1.30 pm.
Tea / coffee and lunch rolls will be provided for all drivers and passengers and there will be a barbeque in the Burgage after the last test.

IRDS
All drivers need to produce a current IRDS / BRDS letter. Double drivers can nominate one driver to drive all the road sections and this driver must produce an IRDS letter. The other driver will be required to sign a declaration stating that they will not drive on the road sections.

Passengers
All passengers must sign on and pay the relevant personal accident insurance premium. Only signed on passengers may be carried on the road sections & tests. Passengers must be over 16 years of age and proof of age will be required at sign on.

Seat Belts.
Seat belts are mandatory for driver and passenger on all tests and road sections.

Tyres.
Only road tyres are allowed on the driven wheels, no M&S or Knobbly tyres are allowed

Double Drivers.
The 2nd driver is not permitted to sit in with the 1st driver before they have done their own test as this is deemed as an unfair advantage.

On tests where the start and finish are located in the same location, the 1st driver does the test and then returns to the start of the test to swap drivers. We have put another car between the double drivers so by the time this car has finished the test the 2nd driver can slot back in.

On tests where the start and finish are in different locations, the 1st driver starts as normal without the 2nd driver. The start marshal will instruct the 1st driver as to the correct route to return to the start where you can slot back in for the 2nd driver. The first driver needs to be a passenger for the 2nd driver on these tests.

Tests 14 & 15
If your car has exhaust damage and is noisy do not enter test 14. Please omit this test and continue onto test 15. Drivers are not permitted to drive on the grass on tests 14 & 15. Both of these tests will have extra marshals to ensure that all drivers comply.
Driving on the grass = FAIL.

Test 16
This test cannot be walked.

Starting Tests
We have a full entry and a busy schedule i.e. 18 tests in total so it important that all drivers arrive at the start of the tests ready to go.

Fuel
There are ample fuel stations along the route however we encourage drivers to use the Texaco at the roundabout in Blessington, as they are one of our generous sponsors for this event.

General
Please help us to ensure that this event is a great success by following the instructions of the officials and marshals at all times. Please drive with due care and consideration for other road users on the road sections. Anyone observed driving in an inappropriate manner will be excluded.

Reserve List
If for any reason you have to cancel your entry please inform us immediately so we can add in our reserve drivers.

Thank you for supporting TDC & The LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and we wish you a very enjoyable and safe day.

Kind regards
Declan Hendrick COC

Well what a day. So today I'm drove a starlet for the first time in an MVAT. Till today it has been a big saloon, 2 times in a BMW E21 and then my Peugeot 309. I live driving the 309... It's just such a joy to drive. But this time Kingers twisted my arm to go Jap. After the first test I thought is made a big mistake. I couldn't get the car to go where I wanted. It was like riding a bike with loose wheels on snow. But after that I settled in and it loathes me to say I started enjoying it..... But as I sit here thinking back I don't think that my joy came from the little starlet. I suspect it was down the the bloody brilliant tests. 10/10 to Declan and all at TDC..... This is event of the year and the bar was raised today.

Brilliant.... Well done all at TDC flippn great event

So will I go shopping for yet another starlet........ I'm afraid no....... Next time out ill be back in the Pug.... No doubt my times were quicker in the starlet....... But not quick enough to matter so ill go back to just drivin pleasure

Big thanks again to Kingers for letting me rag the nuts of his car.... Smile

I have to exactly mirror these comments. what an event! Huge thanks to all involved, the tests were absolutely fantastic, all of them! it was so well ran everything was super. well done to all involved and huge thanks to all the marshalls and time keepers and organisers who sit out to let us have fun, without them it would simply not happen.
