TDC Beginners Championship 2nd Round |
|
I would like to thank all the marshalls and helpers on the day. Paul for entries, results and prizes: Bonnie Phillips and the girls, Ian, Bill White, Ron, and the overlooked but most welcome John Mac for timekeeping duties. Damien for the trailer duties, and congratulations on winning ! Mondello for the venue.
Piers, for the tests ! As Tricia says : Just right. Thanks Piers !.
I claim copyright on the tri-angle test ! It's known as the Milltown Grand Prix and was first run in Kerry about seven years ago ! There was a special prize and Don Giles of Munster Championship fame won on that occassion
Piers was right: it would have made terrific video in the downpower ! I think man most on a mission had to be Stefan. I told you and showed you lads: on the handbrake & tail out rear-wheel drive style all the way round ! Better when you tried it that way Piers ?
I do hope the competitors enjoyed themselves.
And well done on time-keeping : first car on test at 12.05 ! Warning to 'senior' competitors for the future.
Thanks again, everybody !
Tim Faulkner. Clerk of the Course.

Thanks again Tim.. It was the most fun I've had at an autotest.. The different types of tests made it a lot of fun and helped a lot with learning the delicate touch.. We'll have to run the next event like this.. I was a bit sceptical of the 'Triangle' test, but it worked out really well, helped by the slippery conditions... I drew it up but forgot to bring it along.. I think its nearly easier to explain that read off a drawing..
Again, thanks to all the marshals & timekeepers for all their help and congrats to Damien on the win...

Well done Tim, good event. The triangle test was brilliant, the wet really made it. Congrats to the other Damien on the win.

Thanks again Tim for a really enjoyable day. Have you any more of those secret triangular type tests up your sleeve that you can reveal for the next one ??
Also I forgot to congratulate Damian on his win in my earlier post so well done Damian and I'm sure its going to be first of many for you.

School teachers obviously dont delegate. Flour was purchased by wife with weekly shopping. So, on the basis of a return on invested time, the self raising was far more economic from the C.o.C's point of view ! Thats accountants for you.
On Trish's last point : There would appear to be some cross-roads test-trial possibilities if we get to go to the Phoenix Park ? The Felix (not of the rear seat or boot vintage, please. Older ; pre -1986 preferrably) or Faulkner archives may need inspection for siutable test diagrams. This may be superceded though, by the need to put on a show .
Test layouts : maybe it's just different people drew these ones ? Special thanks to Piers again for the first 10 tests
