Committee Meeting last night.
All good to go
Persons have stepped up for duties : but unlike many other clubs this involves most of the committee present as being competitors !
This point is also known as Marshalls wanted !. So if Eoin O'Curry and/or Ian McCullagh does not contact you feel free to volunteer to me on 00353-(0)87-6774967
Be careful when you arrive in Mondello : you are not going to the usual, TDC locations. Turn right after the hut at Gate 4 and head around the perimeter track.
Thanks to and God Bless Mondello; they have two other activities on the 'national circuit' and in the paddock !
Do not be distracted by alternative attractions ; THIS is autotesting at its absolute TOP LEVEL !
More to follow...................
Tim

New Class added :
"Showroom Standard Production Class :
Standard body and shell, standard suspension, standard gearboxes and diffs, Original glass windows, full original spec Interior trim, manifold to manifold standard non-machined or polished modified engined cars. Physically, Road Traffic Act / NCT compliant, except emissions "
Final decisions as to eligibility for this class rests with TDC committee.
It is expected that entrants in the class will comply with the Spirit of the class.
We may poll the competitors at an event to resovle questions of eligibility.
To further assist : If you asking the question the answer is the car very probably is not eligible.
Tim
P.S. For guidance : This would also be known as a Members Class car : but TDC will take entries from non-club members also.
Tyres are as per Motorsport Ireland autotest rules.
Shocks can obviously be replaced.
Tweaks, strengthening or bracing as an addition are generally allowed.
Hydraulic Handbrakes are allowed.
I want the cars to be autotest driveable : and if I have got it totally wrong we won't do it again. I am open to suggestions to clarifications or improvements to these. Feel free to comment. This is an elephant class : Hard to describe but I reckon nearly everyone will know one when they see it !

Does this new class apply to hewison autotests or tdc beginners/novice rounds? Also is the use of an lsd allowed? Just some cars came standard with an lsd?

Alan
Its for Saturday next only, initially.
And its not my idea : that has been kicking around for quite some time in one form or another. Somebody asked me on Friday, and I couldn't see why not : credits due to him.
Its my slant at a thing for TDC, so its up to MSI Autotest committee and other clubs if they would want to put it into a Hewison class next year. That might be a bit difficult as different people might argue over whether its an African, an Indian or a Zoo elephant ?
Standard, Production, Showroom has produced more arguments in my over 40 years involved in Irish motorsport than anything else ! Elements of this are what the big debate last week on Facebook over Lanes Rules was about. And I am not going to get in the middle of one of those; I will withdraw the proposal instead !
I would certainly be thinking of next year's Beginners Championship ; depends on how it pans out and how much grief I get.
Standard means standard : a standard diff with a limo as standard is standard. As an add on it is not standard. On a practical level of cars suitable/likely to take part : some BMW's and maybe MX5's ; doubt any Starlets ! And its all possibly subject to discussions with other competitors on the day ; especially if there is some doubt.

Because of the sad news this morning of the passing away of Vincent Fagan, the Howard Wilde Memorial Autotest scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.
This will allow his very many TDC friends to pay their respects to a great supporter of the club for many years, as competitor and organiser.
On behalf of the club and all of its members, our deepest sympathy to Trish and all of Vincent's family.
A new date for the Howard Wilde will be advised as soon as it has been arranged.

The Howard Wilde Memorial Autotest will now be held at Mondello Park on Sunday 1 December.
All arrangements remain as on the original date, and any entries already received will be valid, unless anyone advises us that they can't make it on that day.
Please will anyone who hadn't sent an entry for November 16 send one NOW - we need to have an idea of how many copies of tests and time cards we will need to have available.
As this is both a Hewison event and the final round of the Beginners' and Novices' Championships, we hope to have EVERYONE driving.
FOR THOSE BEGINNERS AND NOVICES WHO DROVE IN THE EVENT LAST YEAR - THE TESTS WILL BE SHORTER AND LESS COMPLICATED THIS TIME !!!

As this is around the back of the track is it on gravel or are we using a surfaced part of the inter loop?
How many tests are we looking at?

Hi Kingers, 12 tests usually. They will be on a sealed surface.

Autotest cars don't like gravel!
