This excellent event will take place on Sunday 24th Jan 2016 at the Mondello Park Circuit, Kildare.

Avail of the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent Mondello International & Rallycross circuits. The emphasis will be on fun flowing simple tests that will suit all levels.

The surfaces used are, for the most part, smooth and transmission friendly so you can bring out your pride and joy confident that any suffering it might sustain will be entirely down to you.

Please arrive as early as possible for sign-on. Your compliance would be greatly appreciated. No sign-on after drivers briefing at 09:15. Sign-on opens at 08:00

Please don't arrive to sign-on without knowing your assigned number as this will slow the process.

Important note: Running order is not a seeded entry list. Experience and double drivers will be dispersed throughout the field to speed things along.

We would like to thank the Management & Staff at Mondello Park for their help & support in hosting this TDC event

Please note that that as per autotest regulations a roll hoop needs to be fitted if you intend to drive a convertible without a hardtop.

Great number of entries so far.

It mentions in the Regs that walking the tests is prohibited. This is true after the event starts, however up until drivers briefing a certain number of tests can be walked and will be cleared up in the final instructions.
The earlier competitors arrive for sign on, the more time will be available for walking and learning tests.

Due to the large entry, sign on for this event has been moved to the earlier time of 0730. The field will be divided into 6 starting groups. We ask that groups A, B and C arrive for sign on at 0730 and groups D, E and F arrive at 0800? Please sign on first upon arrival. Your cooperation with this is greatly appreciated.

Groups and final instructions to be posted shortly. Please read the final instructions carefully to familiarize yourself with the event format.

Many thanks

Mark

TDC Mondello Park Autotest Final Instructions

Many thanks for your entry to TDC’s Mondello Park Autotest 2016.

Please note your assigned starting group. Due to the size of the entry, we are asking that groups A, B and C arrive at for sign on at 0730; groups D, E and F arrive at 0800. This will alleviate long queues and speed up the process. Also, if you have not paid yet, please have exact change ready. Your compliance would be greatly appreciated. No sign-on after drivers briefing at 0915. Sign-on opens at 0730 and is located this year in the competitor suites above the pit garages. Enter Mondello Park through Gate 4.
The format for the event is as follows:
• 6 Tests completed 4 times.
• 1 Minute interval starts.
• Please put your car numbers on your cars’ rear quarter light window or equivalent and on both sides of the car. The smaller number supplied can be placed on the windscreen to aid marshals when approaching finish line.
• Please go straight to your relevant starting test after drivers briefing. A map has been provided to guide you. Arrows have been put in place too.
• You must travel through the end of Test 3 to get to Test 4 and Test 5. Ask marshal.
Location as follows:
Test 1 – Behind grandstand
Test 2 – At Mondello entrance gate 4
Test 3 – Hole in the hedge (after turn 2)
Test 4 – Racing school pits
Test 5 – Other side of racing school (test 4)
Test 6 – Paddock
• Countdown Start. Marshals will count you down to start. No hanging around in the queues.
• Double drivers CANNOT sit in for Lap1. This is to prevent an advantage. If caught will incur a fail for that test.
• Please queue in running order to start with. Once underway, it’s up to you to keep moving. Please keep a move on during the day. If you are slow you will hold everyone up at the end of day waiting for results.
• Please allow double drivers to skip the queue, within reason. If at all possible, try to facilitate them.
• No dodging or driving around chicanes. Penalty will be a disqualification.
• No taking short cuts across the grass. Penalty will be a Fail.
• There will be pylons “guarding” chicanes and other areas, so if these are knocked, will incur a 5 second penalty.
• Approach chicanes at a low speed, 1st/2nd gear.
• All Finish Lines are stop astride. Front 2 wheels Stop and then pull up to marshal.
• The non-competitive sections are to be driven at low speed, absolutely no messing.
• Only pass through upper paddock when going to test 3.
• For beginners, please ensure that you are familiar with your test before you start. Arrows have been put in place, but remember to circle a pylon and not drive past it, if this is the case.
• Seat belts to be worn at all times, marshals will be checking. Failure will incur a Fail penalty for that test. Also, please keep your windows rolled up.
• Keep OFF the grass, 5 second penalty for each occurrence. Pylons have been placed to prevent this, 3 or 4 in some places, so knocking them all could result in a 15 or 20sec penalty. If you do end up on the grass and you decide to keep the boot in, you’ll be awarded a ‘FAIL’, this decision is at the marshal’s discretion, you’ve been warned.
• All tests are visible at all times by the marshals; they can see you, even if you can’t see them. Obey any instructions or flags given by the marshals, they are there for your safety.
• Test 1, 2, 5, 6 can be walked up until drivers briefing. The earlier you arrive, the more time you’ll have to do this. No driving on tests even for warm up, you may only leave the paddock to drive to test 1 and 2 to walk them. Any competitor caught driving on the tests before start will incur a Fail for that test.
• Parking will be in the paddock beside the control tower and on the main straight.
• Marshals will help with parking; early arrival will ensure a decent spot.
• Please hand in your completed time-cards as you pass the competitors suites at the end of test 6. You Do NOT need to return from the tests to do this, but please hand in your time cards as soon as you possibly can. Results for this event can be delayed if competitors fail to do this. Marshals may ask you for completed time-cards.
• There will be a 45 min lunch halt at ~1300. This is mainly for the marshals to get a break and to get out of the cold and/or rain.
• This event is tasking on marshals, please comply gracefully with instructions.

See you all on Sunday

Some dropouts prior to the event has resulted in a slight change to some groups. Please note your group if there is any change.

Well done to all involved. As always, many thanks to all the marshals for their time. An event like this is very dependant on good marshals and it is very much appreciated. The Mondello MVAT is the culmination of a large effort by many members of TDC. Without the core team events like this couldn't take place. Thank you all.

TDC would also like to thank the team at Mondello for their support and providing the facilities for the event.

Thank you also to the competitors for your entry. We are always looking to improve the events we run and any comments (+/-) are welcome.

Some fun facts:
1776 test completed.
3552 start and finish time calculations
296 times recorded by each marshal (about an average full autotest)
26 marshals
6.25 hours of competition
79 starters, 74 finishers
€50 of biscuits consumed

We hope to see you all again next year

What an amazing event, As per most TDC events it ran very smoothly, but given the large entry I was expecting a few long queues or delays that in the end didn't materialise, so a really impressive job by the organisers and marshals... It was so enjoyable that I really wished for one more lap at the end.. Brilliant..

Thanks very much to everyone who gave their time to allow the event to happen.

Woke up with a few more aches and pains than usual this morning.

Some fun facts of my own;

14, the average number of seconds per test slower than the winner I was.

272, the number of gear changes made.

16, the number of wheels I changed in 24 hours (64 wheel nuts loosened and tightened).

6, the number of different makes of cars in the top 10.

Biggest bubble burst of the day; Come to the finish of one of my better tests and passenger says well done. Finish marshal asks "Is that MX-5 a 1.6?" Yes. "Yea, I was thinking that" 😢

Great atmosphere for the whole day.

Don't forget the AGM this Friday. Your chance to influence the future of our great club.

Stephen
