Hi Piers,

Is there an entry form available for this?

Any chance you could put up a Google Map link to Brambley Lodge, I can't find it Smile

Thanks,

J.

Many thanks to everyone who has sent me in their entry. This is hotting up to be a very exciting and competitive event as we already have a good mix of cars from all corners of the country on the entry list including numerous Mini's, Mazda's, Peugeots and the usual collection of Starlets. Seeing as this is a fun event we're going to run a team event, 3 cars per team and if anyone needs help in recruiting team members please let me know and I'll match you up and even pick a name for your team!

We'll have more information on the tests and entry list posted online in the next few days...........

This is shaping up to be a very exciting day as we have 10 test sites in total, 8 will be repeated twice. There are a wide variety of tests including five farm yard sites which have all sorts of slippy terrain and numerous obstacles to negotiate your way safely around. Next up are two less technical, but equally challenging lane type tests will always prove very popular. Then it's off to the quarry where you will tackle four tests on the loose. After dusting yourself off you will then enjoy a spin around a grassy field!

We have our first team declared i.e. Harold & The Hubcaps, Harold Hassard is spear heading the team challenge and has successfully enlisted two very experienced drivers in John Nolan and John McAssy. Are there any others willing to tackle the Hubcaps for top team honours ?

The Mini's are staging a welcome comeback on to the Multivenue Autotesting scene as the ever improving James Mansfield in his immaculately prepared Mini will have lots of similar sized company on the day. Dermot Carnegie has dusted off his lovely little red Cooper and Eamonn Byrne will be sure to keep them on their toes all day. James Wilson has been very successful on this event in the past and won't let the Dubs have it all their own way. There are rumours of another couple of Mini entries on the way and this is shaping up to be a titantic battle for top Mini honours.

The Starlet class is very well supported from all corners of the country. Wexford man Damien Doran was first off the blocks getting his entry in and is currently away sunning himself so he will be well rested and is sure to feature high on the time sheets. John Nolan assures me he has his Boxy Starlet on song and is looking forward to the challenges of the quarries and farm yards. Declan Hendrick took his boxy Starlet out for a shake down at Frank's and is another very experienced and tidy driver who will be very comfortable on all surfaces. Paul Nolan, who recently enjoyed a very successful run on the GSMC endurance trial will be looking for another good finish. It will be nip and tuck between John McAssy and Alan Auerbach as both have proven that that neat and tidy is the quickest way round.

Team captain Harold Hassard is our sole Nissan Sunny driver but rest assured there is another entry lurking out there to test him for top Sunny honours..

Will the Mighty Minis take on the formidable challenge of Harold & the Hubcaps in the team Competition or will the army of Starlets join forces. There are also strong rumours about a team entry with French connections.......

If anyone would like to join in the fun team challenge and is short members please let me know and I'll match you up.

Entries are filling up and I'll post a further update in the next few days:)

The fwd class is going to be very competitive with numerous additional entries.Rallycross ace Ed Peterson is extremely quick on all surfaces and will be hard to beat. Corkman Liam Cashman will be one of the hot favourites as he won the fwd drive class on this event in 2010. If I was running in the team event I would be bagging these two as my team mates but I somehow doubt I would be their preferred choice of team mate !

Stefan Walsh is a very accomplished autotester and will have no problem in remembering which side of the pylons to go however he is bringing along John Roseblade just to keep him on the straight and narrow. The aptly named James Driver is all geared up for the day and has been getting helpful hints for tackling the loose quarry tests from his dad, Niall who is a former forestry champion. Jack Quinn has his reliable Peugeot 309 all set to go and is looking forward to another good result. Joanne Lombard has graciously given up the driving seat for the day in order to navigate for promising newcomer Richard Barnwell.

I hear Jonathan Bradshaw has been burning the midnight oil i.e. drinking tea with his uncle Eamonn and is now fully up to speed as to the quickest round plyons - watch out for him on the day. Gosh I wish that I had a useful uncle like Eamonn Byrne as most of mine drive tractors!

The entertaining Piers Mac Fheorais is enjoying the " steer from the rear" action in his MX-5 and will be another one to watch out for in the top ten. He won't have it all his own way as there are a few more RWD entries on the way who are sure to give him a run for his money.

The Mini class is growing in numbers (not size!) with the addition of Robert Dickson and Norman Ferguson, both of whom are very experienced and competitive drivers and are sure to be on the pace all day.

If anyone has a seeding request i.e. wants to run with their friends or with specific cars in their class please let me know by Monday as JJ will be seeding all completed entries on Tuesday and we'll do our best to accommodate all requests.

Watch this space for further updates!

****Don't forget that all drivers need to bring their IRDS/BRDS insurance letters on the day****

The RWD gang have been very busy over the weekend filling in entry forms!

Joe Doran had a good result on the recent GSMC Endurance Trial but he is ditching the Starlet that he drove on this event and will be behind the wheel of his Manta this Sunday. I think he will particularly enjoy the lane type tests as they seem to suit the more powerful cars. We're delighted ( for all the Escort Fanatics!) to confirm that Danny O'Donohue will be out in his Mark 1 and he will be joined by talented newcomer Mark Walsh in his immaculate self prepared car.

Karl Grehan is another newcomer who has taken to Autotesting like a duck to water. Watch out for him as he has been rapidly moving up the time sheets in his recent events. Stepaside man Philip O'Reilly will make sure his journey to Navan is not wasted as he will be sure to feature in the FWD class.

Thank you to everyone who sent in their entries and we'll post the entry list online shortly.

Just to clarify the IRDS/BRDS position - where a car is being double driven, as long as only one person drives ALL of the open road sections between the test sites, the person who will NOT be driving any of these open road sections may sign a declaration at check-in and does not need to pay the €15 IRDS/BRDS premium built into the entry fee - so in these cases, entry fee for the "second driver" is €100.

JJ has been busy this evening cutting the grass in the field test so the surface should be in top condition for Sunday. His next job was the seeding which is now complete and he has managed to accommodate all the seeding requests.

Foster Motorsport will be taking pictures throughout the day and have kindly donated a wonderful prize of a framed picture of each winning team member in action during the day. These pictures will be presented at prize giving on Sunday evening. It’s a fantastic prize so come on and join the fun and you could go home with a lovely framed picture of yourself mid - drift:)

hint hint.....

Liam, Christy & Declan - will you take on Harold and the Hubcaps?
Eamonn, Jonathan and Eddie - who is going to be team captain for the Wicklow Warriors?
Stefan, Who are you recruiting for the " Jap Crap " team?
Piers and Joe, we need a name for your RWD drive team please....
Dermot, How about a Mini team?
Karl, What are you going to call your team?

A team is 3 drivers in any type of car and all you have to do is email or call me with the names, If anyone does not have a full team or would like to join in the fun please let me know and I'll match you up.

Sat Nav locations as follows and we'll be post directions to JJ's in the next day or so and it will be arrowed from Slane. There are plenty of fuel stations along the test route.

Stefan Walsh has risen to the challenge and leads the “Jap Crap team” with his two very experienced wing men Damien Doran and Philip O’Reilly. Rumour has is that they are having a pre event meeting to discuss strategy / tyres so they will be sure to be on the pace from the first test. This trio who are all in Starlets will be very evenly matched with Harold and the Hubcaps and it will be nip and tuck on the day between these two teams.

Joanne Lombard captains “ The drifters “ and has Richard Barnwell and Karl Grehan for company. This promising trio are looking forward to the challenge of living up to their name!

Next up is the “ Wicklow Warriors “ Ed Peterson , Eamonn Byrne and Jonathan Bradshaw will be sure to launch a fearsome attack for top team honours and discard them at your peril.

Robert Dickson has named his all Mini team "The Old Fogies " and he enlisted Dermot Carnegie & Norman Ferguson. James Wilson is the reserve but it will take him at least another 20 years to qualify as a member !

Directions to Brambley Lodge, Deanhill, Navan, Co Meath

From Dublin take Finglas exit off the M50, then N2 to Ashbourne, from Ashbourne head towards Slane for about 10 miles, you will see an Esso station on the right hand side, turn left just after it (will have signs from here), go to 2nd cross road turn left, were up on the right.

From the North please follow signs for Slane and it will be arrowed from there.
