Hi James and welcome, yes you will need a competition licence ( Clubman is the class you need ) you can download this from Motorsport Ireland , you also need to join a club and you can join TDC (see the home page ) as regards to the 1300cc or 1500 cc engine I'll leave that to the boys to tell you which is the best way to go............

Hi James, Welcome along... You'll find some basic information on what autotesting is about in the 'What is Autotesting' section of this forum. Events typically cost €30-€35 per event for beginners and a clubman license is what you need. The forms on available on this website. You can also get one event licenses at most beginner events. A starlet is a traditional car people choose and a 1 lt one would be fine starting out but a bigger engine helps as you become more proficient. The starlets are tough and withstand lots of abuse.. The other costs are mainly tyres which typically cost €50/€30 each (front/rear) and should last quite a few events...
Feel free to ask any other questions you may have..

Great evening in Sandyford, decent entry and I don't think I've ever seen as many Starlets in the one place as i did today I think a few more Minis need to be sourced
Hope the video footage comes out ok.....Piers will be busy for a few hours with it
