Despite an early pylon, four times Hewison champion Eddie Peterson was 5.2s clear by the finish of MEC's Freeman Cup Autotest at Rathnew, Co Wicklow to score his fifth victory of the season over J J Farrell and Steven Ferguson. The Tyrone driver's title hopes are slipping away as Peterson has won four of the five rounds since Christmas. Farrell snatched second place on the final test as he recovered from an earlier mistake. Former champion Eamonn Byrne suffered a rare retirement with gearbox problems.
