4th Feb 2012: MGCC Derek Walker Classic Trial |
|
Just looking at the <GCC Ulster Centres end of year newsletter and provisional details for the Derek Walker Trial are given as follows
Derek Walker Classic Trial 2012
This will be an exciting and interesting change as Noel and Trevor have been
looking at the county Antrim area and have arranged for us to use Ballymena
Livestock Mart for the Start and Finish of the event. There are good facilities
here and one advantage of the site is there is a café which can provide breakfast
for everybody with tea or coffee - either a Fry at £4.50 or a Bacon or Sausage Bap
at £4. The important thing is they both have sampled the food here and said it
was very good. Also various sites around and about Broughshane, Aghadowey
and maybe north of Ballymoney.
We have a Classic Trial Permit for this event which means the navigator can stay
in the car for most of the test as we did for the Night Trial in September. We
have noticed over the past couple of years there seem to be hold ups along the
way, which have a snowball effect, and the marshals and time-keepers seem to
have to wait for half an hour or more between some cars in not the best weather
conditions. We are trying to improve the event for competitors and marshals
alike and hope having the navigator in the car will speed things up. The
importance of keeping things moving will be highlighted at the Drivers’ Briefing
as well as the possibility of incurring a penalty if a competitor does not start a
test when asked.
As this is one of our more popular events, entries are received on a first come
first served basis with preference going to Class 1 marques, MGs and cars pre-
1974.
Supplementary Regulations and entry form will be available on the website -
mgcculstercentre.org.uk – emailed, available from Carol or posted out on
request.
If any of you would be free to help with marshalling on the day please contact me
as soon as possible so we can put together our timetable and schedules for the
event.

New territory so no advantages for anyone

just a few changes to the article above.
Sausage/Bacon Bap will be free to all drivers and navigators who enter the event.
And cars pre 1980 will be eligable for awards.
A good load of entries have been received so far so get your entries in soon with preference going to cars pre-1980 and MG's
