Post FS : 1972 MG Midget 1600cc 20 valve Reply with quote
Hi I have for sale my 1972 round wheel arch MG Midget fitted with a 1600cc Toyota 4AGE 20 Valve. I've had the car for 6 1/2 years now and it's time for a change. if you want any more info give me a call. spec below.

Midget Spec:

Shell
1972 RWA Shell (Free Tax) - Taxed to April 2012
Half rear roll cage fitted.
Steel wings, lightweight single skin bonnet and pins, comes with unpainted single skin bootlid.
Very very strong steel sumpguard/chassis strengthening kit. 50mm box section welded to chassis rails and braced front cross member under car.

Engine/Transmission
Low Mileage 1600cc 20 valve Toyota 4AGE Silvertop (AE101) running individual throttle bodies with Pipercross filter.
Developed 139bhp at the wheels on McVickers Rolling road, so 165-170bhp at the flywheel.
Standalone ECU (Perfectpower –XMSL). This runs both fueling/ignition/Fan/VVTi etc
Has live switchable mapping, wet/dry setting etc.
4-2-1 Manifold and single box 2” exhaust system, Lambda bung fitted below manifold for mapping.
Standard Midget fuel tank modified with return, high pressure fuel pump and swirl pot fitted inside boot, second low pressure pump fitted.
Electric Fan controlled by ECU (Can easily set temp)
TRD competition engine mounts
New radiator made to fit Toyota 20V, extra core for better cooling, full Samco hose kit fitted.
Toyota T-50 5 Speed gearbox.
Lightweight Competition Sealed (26Ah) battery fitted with cutoff switch on dashboard.
Engine bay totally rewired, ECU located in sealed waterproof box.

Suspension
Full Frontline suspension kit – Avo adjustable shocks
New front Hubs fitted last year.
New wishbone bushes/kingpins etc fitted last year
Early type midget rack – 2.2 Turn
Uprated 11/16 Antiroll bar with poly bushes
New standard leaf springs at rear (2010)
Pahnard rod kit
Frontline anti-tramp bars
Rear shock absorbers fitted.
Ford Anglia English axle fitted with Quaife ATB LSD (Lifetime warranty, happy to proceed through me – original owner for claims)
4:1 CWP fitted, new bearings (2010)
Standard midget front brakes with remote servo fitted, greenstuff pads.
8” Ford Escort rear drums (new shoes/drums 2011)
Hydraulic handbrake fitted, original handbrake still in place for MOT.
4 minilite style wheels (Ford on the rear, midget on the front), various tyres, forest etc.
Interior
2x Corbeau vinyl bucket seats with headrests.
2x 3 or 4 point red harnesses
Dashboard repainted and fitted with new LED indicators/full beam/Oil Etc.
All CAI instruments fitted – electronic speedo drive from gearbox, can easily be tapped into for trip sensor.

Overall a very nice package – in the right hands should/could win events outright. Never did alot in my hands, but has taken 1st (Ashley Lamont) and 2nd (Ivan McAteer) in the MG Ulster classic trial. Always finished ever event, drive to and from them also.
I have all MOT’s since I owned it (6 ½ years ). I replaced all the instruments a few years ago, so mileage was set back to zero (July 2006) car Mot’s with 51 miles on the clock, now has just over 4000miles. I simply don't use it enough. Originally this car had covered around 50k. Think it has been a motorsport car most of its life and owned by Noel Cochrane competing in the likes if the circuit retro.

It is a very fast car, and not for the faint hearted. It's even faster than it looks once out on the open road.
0-60 around 5 secs
¼ miles 14.8 (quicker than a Lotus Cartlon – See Youtube)
Car MOT’d to Jan 2013
Prob forgot loads, but just ask.

If you search youtube for my username (BYD1380) you'll find loads of videos at various events.

Thanks

Ivan
