Rory, Mini's are the natural choice if you have ten grand to buy a decent one. A decent starlet will cost you about a fifth of that. Starlet's are the way forward. Economical and fun to compete in, which is all part of the sport.

by the time you get a good mini ready for autotesting it'd cost you a fortune.. just get a starlet strip it out and your sorted Very Happy

10 grand? Your talkin about a starter car here not a championship winning special. If you want to end up winning a championship like the hewison u need a mini. End off. But you don't need to spend 10k straight off. Get yourself a decent shell and get it down to the right sorta weight which won't cost much. Weight is everything. After that it's engine and stuff but that can be put off for a good while or gradually upgraded as you improve. Every class gets expensive at the top end look at thompsons nova. It's in the starlet class and it wouldn't be too far off a mini price.
