Yes indeed, congratulations Piers.
It's good to see that everybody enjoyed the day, makes setting it all up in the lashings of rain worth while. I would like to thank Trish Denning for all her effort in dealing with the entries and organising marshals. Also, the packed lunch for marshals was top notch and a great idea. Your services may be called upon again I hope!!!
Hopefully, this style of event will take off, in the way multivenue autotesting has. It's great to have a venue like mondello, and there are still a lot of areas not yet explored (although I think the ambulance lane may require time to recover). As such, numerous events can be held there in a near unlimited format, with the cooperation of Mondello Park of course.
A big thank you is also required for all the marshals who gave their time. ALMC will have the favour returned and the mondello track team were well up to the task. They even got to use their flags on the ambulance lane when a wheel mysteriously came off one of the centos. Great work!!!!
Nuts and Bolts were traumatised when a cat lost all of its lives on test 1. Not too worry, Mondello is home to a lot of strays. Whiskers won’t be missed, although a tragedy none the less.
I’m also glad to hear that John Byrne was resident welder for the afternoon. Having the work van parked at test 2 finish proved useful. Multitasking is one of the skills John possesses i.e. timekeeping while holding up a welding mask.
Congrats to Ed Peterson on the win, the mini never looked out of shape all day. As ever, a fantastic pilot to watch.
Hard luck to Clifford Auld, the car looked great, right up until the moment of retirement. We all hope to see it out for the next one.
Congratulations to all involved. The success of an event like this is also dependent on the behaviour and cooperation of the competitors, and I’m glad to report, that there were no complications. Out of 83 entries, 76 started and 72 got a result, which is great for the sport, may it continue…..
