Entries have been arriving since early on Saturday morning after Regs were posted. We are very encouraged by the support and the interest in the 21 selectives planned................keep the entries coming.

The tests take place on private roads, racecourses, farms, Golf Resorts, a Quarry and a dissused airfield including the runways.

Remember entries are restricted to a maximum of 60 Cars.

Regs available on www.almc.ie

Email Deirdre Gallagher at eventsec@almc.ie for regs ,if you cannot download them.

Hi Piers,
Fergal Collins is looking for a navigators seat. He can be contacted on 086 6039180, probably best to txt and let him reply as he can be a bit hard to get hold of. He has done the navigation course and is an experienced marshal.

I have been thinking that as there is a larger than usual number of drivers looking for navigators would it be an idea to have interested parties listed so that drivers could contact them directly and make their own arrangements?

Regards

Bash

Would anyone be able to give a kind of 'Beginners Guide To Selectives' ? Smile

I'd like to know what to expect and what makes this event different to a MVAT?

Thanks,

J.

One of the experienced lads will probably tell you a lot more than be but this is my understanding of them.

Firstly, selectives are usually a lot longer that MV tests, theres a bit on the ALMC website that says that the selectives could be from 2 up to 19 miles on this event, and they are also all forward motion.
Secondly, the aim is not to do them as quickly as possible as on MVATs, but to average a certain speed over the section. There will be passage controls (for timing) and all the usual pylons, boxes and chicanes along the section.
You don't 'learn' a selective like a test, but rather your navigator will tell you where to go, I think tulip diagrams are mainly going to be used for the ALMC event. In terms of the terrain, it seems it will be a lot like Declan's Multi-Venue, farmyards, lanes, tracks etc.

Take a look at the regs for the event under General Route and the link below for a bit more info, hope this helps anyway...

few more cars that could be used, might need a small bit of work to meet regs

1400 Puma http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1964985.htm

205 XS http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2404938.htm

a few other Road Rally cars on Pistonheads but they are over the 1400cc Enduro limit
