Young Rally of the Year joins Cento Challenge for ALMC event |
|
Robert Barrable, the 2010 winner of the Billy Coleman award for Irish Young Rally Driver of the Year, will compete in the ALMC Endurance Trial next month driving a Fiat Seicento! Barrable, the current Irish and UK Citroen C2R2 Champion, joins the recession busting Cento Challenge for standard Fiat Seicento and Cinquecento Sportings for round three of the new-for-2011 series. Barrable is currently negotiating to buy an IRC Skoda Fabia to contest the UK Championship but says he always has time for a bit of fun. “The Cento Challenge seems to be loads of fun and great value, so when the organisers offered me a car for this event I jumped at it!” Rob will drive a Seicento Sporting and will compete in the Endurance Class, which is for standard cars up to 1400cc. 2010 Hillclimb Champion Simon McKinley currently leads the Cento Challenge with a perfect score of two wins from two starts, but with no rally experience, he now has a big job on his hands if he is to maintain that record next month!
The event, run by the ALMC Motor Club, begins at Luttrellstown Castle Resort in Castleknock, Dublin 15 on Saturday February 19th, travels through Kildare and Meath before returning to Luttrellstown for the finish in the evening.
Barrable is no stranger to Fiats, his father Michael runs one of the biggest Fiat dealerships in the country and Robert also won the Punto Abarth race at the Phoenix Park Races in 2009 on a one-off drive!
