As far as I know a Beginner is someone who has done nothing or one or two events, and a Novice is someone who hasnt won more than six awards (the only novice awards that count are overall novice wins)

Good to know Damien... That should make it easier to determine what category people fall into.. As to when a novice becomes an expert I don't imagine there is a list...

There is the definition of a Novice in the MI yearbook - Autotest section and Hewison section - Beginners are a pure TDC status as I understand

Appendix 90 is Hewison but 91 is headed 'Non Hewison' and includes the Novice description again.

Thanks for posting those results Piers. I'm as confused as everyone else.
I have been busy acquring and preparing a Mini for this championship and now I'm worried that I'd have been better off in my retro Starlet?

In relation to Novice / Beginner I was told that you are a beginner until you get a placing in the Beginners championship?

It's a bog standard 998cc for the moment. I've stripped as much as I can out of it. It's in with EB at the moment for suspension tweeks. It 1988 with 25k original miles. I'll wait a while before putting in new engine. It'll be much handier than the starlet on the tarmac events.

Yes, I will be using the Mini for the championship. Haven't cut boot or boot floor yet. I'm sure the car will evolve with advice from you guys.

what you need to do is take a camera and take some sneeky pics of the top cars. weight is everything in this game so you need to cut the boot and floor and put in a crossbar
