I see the Ulster MG Car Club have a couple of Production Car Trials coming up in October and November.

25 years I used to really enjoy the PCTs run by the CKMC and TDC competing in this and other machines of rare beauty!!!

Was anyone thinking of entering either of these?

It's amazing where a standard car can go.

PCT's are great fun. I have done most of the MGCC oves over the years, they arn't always the best supported event which is a shame but Noel Cochrane doesn't want them to fade away. With more enrtys & support for these events they could make a comeback. I will try & do them again this year but I need a car for them as a supra & liteace van arn't ideal.

Up to about seven or eight years ago TDC's Stephen's Day event used to be a PCT in a quarry.
The was a period of domination from an infamous, Wicklow based, Toyota Tercel. It started on the button year after year, would turn up and win, and was never used othterwise throughout the year.

A test was run, in the quarry and this proved more popular so our Christmas event went to the autotest format.

Ronnie started to organise last Stephen's Day event as a PCT, but no suitable venue was available so, with the weather last winter, it became the New Year's Day Mondello multi-venue !

Years ago there were joint venture Christmas events, but differences of interpretation and application (you need to read between the lines, here, a bit!) lead to a parting of the ways.

Summarised; we've gone our own way the way members seem to want most.

Prior to that the PCT was on New Year's Day in Blessington. I looked out some video footage I had from 1997/8/9 which I'll try to figure out how to transfer from VHS to YouTube sometime. Not a Tercel in sight (but I do remember it), however a certain Reliant Robin features heavily. Also, some great marshalling and shouting being done by your good self with a very new looking black Corolla in the background!

Anyway, I'm thinking I might give it a go again in October. Now, was 6.7 or 6.8 PSI best for mud? Smile

How old do you have to be to do these trials and what does the car need? I'm just pricing up different disciplines of motorsport. Very Happy
