MULTI-VENUE IRDS/BRDS REQUIREMENT |
|
MULTI-VENUE AUTOTESTS IRDS/BRDS SCHEME
Motorsport Ireland has just introduced a new requirement for all drivers in Multi Venue Autotests using public roads between test sites to hold IRDS or BRDS letters of acceptance to ensure that they are covered by Road Traffic Act insurance while driving during the event.
Quite a few of the regular MVAT competitors will already hold an IRDS/BRDS letter. Everyone who has driven in a Retro or Endurance Trial is already in the scheme and will only need to complete a renewal form to get their 2012 letter from MI.
If you have never held an IRDS or BRDS letter, you may download a proposal form from the Motorsport Ireland website www.motorsportireland.com under the heading Most Popular on the Home page, click on Standard Forms and then on IRDS Rally Insurance First Time Application.
RAC MSA competition licence holders who do not hold a current letter of acceptance from the BRDS scheme may obtain a BRDS proposal form from Motorsport Ireland or download one from the MI website www.motorsportireland.com - under the heading Most Popular on the Home page, click on Standard Forms and then on MSA Licence Holders Rally Insurance First Application. If you have held a BRDS letter in a previous year, you need MSA Licence Holders Rally Insurance Renewal.
If you cannot access the MI website, please contact us and we can post/fax the forms to you.
As new applications take some time to process, it is essential that any driver who has not already been accepted for one of these schemes applies IMMEDIATELY.
The standard premium is 15 per event (a reduction from the 20 that applies for Navigation/Retro/Endurance Trials).
TDC has decided to absorb this cost for our Multi Venue Autotest in June this year, keeping the entry fee unchanged at 100 except that any driver with a loading on their premium due to age or claims history will have to pay the extra amount of the loading at check-in.
