The annual ALMC Endurance Trial, based at Luttrellstown Golf Club / Castle takes place on Saturday 16th February.
The event, will once again feature two long selectives in Luttrellstown, one at the start 12.5km and one in the dark to finish, 14.75km.
We are moving back to other familiar venues in Fairyhouse ; Ashbourne ; Garristown ; Slane and Collon with some new venues.
17 selectives will be tackled from a NOON start to a NINE PM finish.....
Regs are available , Entry Fee €190 ( incl IRDS €20 and PA €30)
If you are interested, email : Deirdre@almc.ie to be sure of being included on the entry list
"Selectives at Slane Castle ; Fairyhouse Racecourse ; Whiteriver Karting and Townley Hall have all been completed, with some testing terrain included"
Almost 60km of Selectives are waiting for you on February 16th , cheapest cost per km for Motorsport fun.

I would strongly advise anybody thinking of doing this event to go and read the Regs carefully because they are changed under Motorsport Ireland rules for 2013.
Main areas that may affect people are :
1) Rally seats are mandatory if you have "roll-over protection" ( i.e. not just Roll Cages ).
2) Full Safety Harness are mandatory for all cars.
3) "Wearing of helmets for selectives is mandatory for any car with roll-over protection. Helmets must be removed on completion of a selective and before emerging onto the public highway"
There is a 200 seconds penalty per offence for wearing helmets on the open road.
I am aware this will affect different people in different ways and would firstly point out the regs are what they say, and equally are not what the dont say. A cage or roll protection is not mandatory ; but if you do a rally seat and helmet on selectives are.
Harnesses are now mandatory on all cars.
From the ALMC website for 2013 Endurance Trials ( especially regarding acceptable seats and harnesses ) - some of the issues are Endurance Cars only and some are all cars
" The cars:
•1400 c.c. standard cars. No engine or gearbox modifications. No LSDs.
•May change suspension, add two spotlights, strut brace, sump and tank guards
•The UK has a requiremnt for at least a rear cage (most have a full cage).... UK ONLY... Not an Irish requirement.....
•FIA seats not necessary. ( out of date Rally seats can be used in cars with cages)
•Full harness belts required, but not the (expensive) quick release type. ( again out of date rally belts)
•There is no contol tyre specified in Ireland for the 2013 season. Some tyres used are Sportway R1 + or Yokohama A539.
This is just an outline; but essentially the cars are to the same specification as our Navigation Trial cars.
Suspension is free, but no remote reservoirs. Wheels are free. Two spots allowed.
Sump-guard and tank-guard allowed. Cars must run with full glass and all seats and trim. Control tyres must be used, with a limit to number. Also, the corners of the tyres must be buffed off, which means far less damage to forestry roads, something the U.K. Forestry Commission is aware of. (Silverstone Tyres provide buffed tyres).
FIA seats not obligatory but advisable. Helmets obligatory on selectives where roll over protection ( full / half cage or hoops-MX5).
Full harness belts required but don’t have to have ‘quick release’ buckles. Hand-held fire extinguisher required (i.e. much the same as our night trial regulations) "
If you enter you want to get past scrutiny so make sure you have read and understood the regs and everything matches up.

its very vague to say the least, what defines a "rally" seat and what type of helmet? will anything with a hard shell basically be ok?

The helmets can be "in or out of date" Rally or Race Full Face or open types .
Alternatively you can purchase new "Track day" types from Murray Motorsport. No other hard hats will be accepted.
Rally Seats are defined in Appendix 2 MI Yearbook / Website. Endurance Events can use out of homologation seats.

Thanks for that : I think many questions are answered so far.
I would point out to people that they should make sure they understand where they are at under the regulations and rules. Some are for Endurance cars, some are for all cars eligible for the event. And then we get issues such as those healandtoe raised.
Its a real RTFM situation ( Read the eff'n manual). And then go and check with the Clerk of the Course that you have got it right. Dont think : CHECK !
Only one other thing to say : Luttrellstown !

Well done to ALMC and thank you to all to the marshals and time keepers for a great day. The tests were fantastic , Slane Castle was probably my favourite however the karting track was a close second purely for entertainment value even though the tyres were melted off the car after it. Luttrellstown was epic on both runs and for any of you that came across an exhaust pipe abandoned on the night test, sorry it was mine and I had a very noisy journey home!
Thanks again to everyone involved , its much appreciated.
