Mini handbrake

ive a terrible handbrake on my old mini
new shoes adjusted tight still no joy
any tips??

Stephen,
There are a few factors that affect the handbrake operation on a mini.
Check the shoes are in the right way; they have the material bonded at different spots on the shoe and this will make a big difference(these are called single leading shoe brakes)"Secondly check the free movement of the cables and quadrants as a lot of your arm effort can be taken up in moving worn and seized parts.

Hi.
As with all drum based systems, if the drum is worn or slightly oval it will reduce the efficiency. I normally freshen up the internal surface on a lathe and ensure that they are truely circular. Makes a huge difference. PM me if you need further info
