IRISH RETRO NEWS

Fred Bent reports strong interest in next year’s Irish Classic Retro, with our Dutch friends keen to return to Ireland after their successful visit during the 2010 Rally of the Tests.
Next year’s event which takes place from the 24th to the 26th April will have a wide ranging appeal caters for all Vintagists. The main rally will be contested with Regularities, Tests and Special Tests , with an optional night time section.

"In an unusual move the club has decided to run the night time section as a separate event dedicated to the memory of Vincent Fagan a former stalwart and much loved member of club who passed away last year. The Vin as he was known would have appreciated that the replica for The Vincent Fagan Memorial Trophy is in fact a case of vin".

Over the years the Vintagists have enjoyed participation in many Irish events and Fred promises a smooth route suitable for all these special cars, hence the decision to run the night time section as a separate event.
The headquarters for the event is the newly refurbished four star Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny, many of you will remember this popular hotel from former Irish Retro Rallies. This year the hotel are offering an exceptional all inclusive set package for three night bed and breakfast and ticket to the Prize Giving Dinner on the final night for 190 euro.
Nutt Travel are also coming on board with special Cross Channel rates – please contact them on 44 2870351199 or visit their website www.nutttravel.com

Update - Irish Classic Retrospective 24th – 26th April 2015

Fred Bent reports that the route for next year’s Irish Classic has been finalised. Clerk of the Course Michael Jackson has combined some great new venues with old favourites from previous visits to Kilkenny. It promises to be a fine finally to the Trial Drivers Club “Diamond Anniversary” year.
In a change from earlier information the “night nav” section will be included in the determination of the overall classification. There will be special awards for the Vintagent crews (the night section is optional), the best performance on the Tests, best performance on Regularities and best performance on the “night nav”. The Vincent Fagan Memorial Trophy will be presented for the latter with awards for 2nd and 3rd, together with other awards for overseas competitors.
The first car will finish the “Night nav” (the traditional “road rally”) and the crew celebrating or commiserating in the bar of the Newpark Hotel by 11:00 p.m.
At this early stage UK entries received to date include Roy Perkins; Howard Warren; Geoff Hall. Peter Boyce will be accompanying Robert Ganley and the Irish contingent also includes James O’Mahoney, Dermot Carnegie and Michael Reid from Belfast. So far the Dutch have still to confirm but Bart Rietbergen is hoping to find time in his hectic rally schedule to make the trip.

Early Bird entry fee at 495 Euro closes on 31st October and further information, regulations and entry form can be obtained at the Trial Drivers Club website . – www.tdcireland.com

Please act now and get your entries in.

I have had contact from a few competitors via the British Rally Forum where I posted details of the event and they hope to make a decision after the Solway Rally this weekend in England and if talks regarding ferry prices work out in their favor then 3 to 5 entries should be sent in next week

The COC has agreed to extend the early closing date to NOV 15th to help those trying to get an entry.

As I can see someone has already asked the question about car regs, It would help a lot as to see if the car I use in Uk meets with yours Thanks.

UK compliant cars would tend to be eligible.
Car rules are Para 4 & 23 of Appendix 33, as above.

If in doubt, ring the competitor liaison officer as per regs.
